A Journal That Learns You

Stop re‑reading your life. Start growing from it.

For the Thinkers and the Forgetters.

Castalia is a journal for people who think in circles and forget what they figured out last month. It holds all of it, without judgment. Write it down. Say it out loud. Search for the thing you know you wrote but can't remember when.

Castalia used to be called InkWell.

What's Inside

Life is messy. Castalia holds your thinking and gives you back insight.

Every capture mode is free. The intelligence layer is there when you want more.

Write it, or say it.

Type it, or just talk. InkOutLoud turns your voice into a clean, readable entry, so a thought caught on a walk doesn't die on a blank page later.

A full page, no clutter. Nothing here needs to be good. It just needs to be true.

Ask your journal anything.

Search by meaning, not just keywords. Ask “When did I last feel rested?” and Castalia finds the entries that answer it. Or tap a day on the calendar and read what you wrote.

Search is free.

Gratitude that doesn't go flat.

Research-cited gratitude practices on rotation, one suggested each day, so the practice keeps working instead of becoming background noise. Any one of them counts.

Turn a want into a plan.

WISH is a values-based goal method. Sort what matters to you, name a goal that grows out of it, plan for the moment that usually gets in the way, and let Sophy check the plan if you like.

And the quieter tools.

For the days you want a different way in.

Quick capture and longer Sprints

InkBlot is for the fast thought you don't want to lose. Sprints are timed, uninterrupted writing sessions for thinking something all the way through.

See the other side

Reframe walks you through a short, structured practice for looking at a hard moment from a different angle, in your own words.

A simple, optional check-in

FeelCheck is a 1-to-5 rating you can attach before and after a practice if you want to notice a shift. Optional, never required, never a score.

See your year, not just your day

Browse entries on a calendar any time. With Plus, turn on weekly and monthly insight emails that connect the dots across time.

Generate a Practice Summary you can choose to share with a therapist or anyone you trust. Built from usage patterns, never the content of what you wrote.

Web, iPhone, and Android

However You Journal

Wherever the thought shows up.

Five minutes or an hour. Morning coffee or the last thing before sleep. Castalia keeps it all in one place.

Meet Sophy

A companion who reads only when you say so.

Sophy is Castalia's AI companion. She offers a prompt when you want one and reflects back what she notices when you ask her to. She reads your journal only when you ask, or when you turn on her insight emails. Silence is the default.

When you do ask, she remembers. Sophy can bring back what you wrote months ago, dated and in your own words, when it's genuinely relevant to what you're working through today.

  • Reflections grounded in your own past entries, only when you ask
  • Prompts when you want a starting point, silence when you don't
  • Your entries are never used to train AI

Example reflection

I keep circling the same decision and getting nowhere.
You wrote something close to this in March, and back then the circling stopped once you named what you were actually afraid of losing. What would that look like this time?

Your Words

Built to stay private.

A journal only works if you can be honest in it. Here is what that means in practice.

A Note From Adam

The best thing a person figures out is usually gone by next week.

I'm a coach. Here's what I kept seeing. Someone figures out something big in a session. A week later it's gone, like a great shower idea lost by breakfast. They cared. Life just kept moving.

So I built the place I wanted for them, and for me. Somewhere to put a thought the moment it shows up, typed or spoken, and a way to get it back when it matters. Sophy stays quiet until you ask.

Your journal is always yours. Plus features, like “Your month” and insight emails, pause, but every entry stays accessible and exportable on the free plan.

Your entries are encrypted in transit and at rest, never sold, never used to train AI, and never visible to other users. Sophy reads your journal only when you ask her to, or when you turn on her insight emails.

Only when you ask, or if you turn on Sophy's insight emails, a Plus feature that stays off unless you choose it. She offers a prompt when you request one and reflects on an entry only when you invite her to.

No. Castalia isn't a medical app and isn't a therapy replacement. It's a place to think, out loud or on the page, that remembers what you told it and gives some of it back when it matters. If you're working with a therapist, the Practice Summary lets you share your journaling patterns with them on your own terms.
